Seaside High School
Talent: Jazz
Platform: Impacting Adverse Childhood Experiences

Living here in Clatsop County for almost 10 years, I have come to love the small town life. I am a sophomore at Seaside High School, where I am very involved. I am a member of the Seaside High School Cheer Team, where I spend every Friday night cheering on my gulls at the football games. Golf, CommuniCare, Key Club, and Treasurer for Class Office are other ways for me to spend my time through my school. I have also been a dancer since I was in first grade, and love sharing my passion on the Miss Clatsop stage.

Impacting Adverse Childhood Experiences is something that is very important to me. Children have always had a very special place in my heart. Through my platform, I am able to make that impact on those who have faced some sort of trauma in their lives. During my year of service, I look forward to working with Trauma Informed Oregon, and informing others as to what the Adverse Childhood Experiences are, and how we can make a difference.

After high school, I plan to attend college and obtain a degree in elementary education. Working with youth, being a mentor, and education are some of my passions and I would love to continue to make an impact on our future generations.

Scappoose High School
Talent: Contemporary Jazz
Platform: Lupus — Raising Awareness

A sophomore at Scappoose High School, in Scappoose Oregon, I am the middle child of my family. When I am not at school you will find me volunteering on some level within my community or with a non-profit I feel strongly about. In addition to working with my platform, one of my favorite organizations I have helped is Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. With the assistance of my community, family, and friends I have been able to donate almost 200 brand new toys and over 70 pairs of pajamas to the children staying at Doernbecher. Last but certainly not least, I enjoy going to the movies with friends or being on stage in theatrical performances put on by our High School Drama Club. I have found that I love the challenge of portraying another character on stage and my dream theatrical role is Wendy in Peter Pan.

My platform is Lupus — Raising Awareness. I have spent the last 5 years volunteering on various levels to raise awareness for this devastating disease. I started off simply leading stretches at one of the local walks and now serve as the Chief Operating Officer for the Lupus Foundation of America’s Portland Walk to End Lupus 2018 event. As the youngest person to ever serve in this role I am eager to provide an event that brings lupus patients and their families together. I think that the change in roles shows that when you’re dedicated to something, there are no limits to what you can achieve. In addition, I have successfully obtained two proclamations from Governor Kate Brown proclaiming May 2016 & 2017 to be Lupus Awareness Month in Oregon and have requested for 2018 to also be named.

After High School graduation, my goal is to go to school to become an elementary school teacher. I have realized the impact my teachers have had on my life and I want to have the same positive impact on another child’s life. In addition I plan to continue working with the Lupus Foundation of America in whatever capacity they may ask me to serve. I picture a world in which we can say, “lupus has a cure”, and it is my goal to advocate for patients until that time.
